CHONKINFECKLE TO PLAY UKE EAST 2016 Uke East 2016 is proud to announce a new act for the line-up, the Wigan wonders Chonkinfeckle chonkinfeckle.co.uk/ which is made up of Les Hilton on uke and harmonica and Tim Cooke on vocals and percussion. The band will play the main stage at the Norwich Arts Centre on 24 September as part of Uke East. The name derives from a Wigan dialect term, loosely meaning to be in “good order” or “fine fettle”, and their witty songs tell stories of everyday life in a northern town. The band has been a huge hit at festivals all over Europe with clever, inventive and funny songs. Chonkinfeckle shot to national fame in 2014 when their song “I’m from Wigan me” became the official anthem of Wigan Athletic football team’s journey to the FA Cup semi-finals. And in 2015, the band launched its very own real ale brew Chonkinfeckle – brewed in Wigan. Tickets can be bought at the Norwich Arts Centre norwichartscentre.co.uk/events/uke-east-2016/
